Home town hero Nevin Galmarini went from Batman to Superman. The Olympic champion came into the event as the favorite. In the qualifications Galmarini did not let the pressure get to him and he progressed through the rounds comfortably. But coming into the semi-finals he faced Polish young gun Oskar Kwiatkowski. Kwiatkowski produced the run of his life and relegated Galmarini to the small final. There, Galmarini beat Aaron March (ITA) and secured a 3rd place finish.
The third place finish for Glamarini now gives him two World Cup globes. Not only does he win the Parallel Giant Slalom small globe but he also secures the Alpine Snowboarding Overall title. Galmarini said: "To finish on the podium at my home mountain is special. But to win my first PGS title and first overall title here as well, words cannot describe how happy I am."
